Frost Specialty, LLC Sponsors "The Rudy Awards"

Specialty, LLC is a proud sponsor of The Rudy Awards
which were held on January 12th 2009 at the Gaylord
Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN. The Rudy Awards honors
Division I football players who demonstrate exemplary
Character, Courage, Contribution and Commitment as
members of their team. The Rudy Awards are part of The
Rudy Foundation, to which Robert Frost is a longtime
supporter. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to
support and recognize those who aspire to fufill their
dreams through the 4 C’s : character, courage,
contribution and commitment. Rudy Ruettiger, the
inspiration for the blockbuster movie “Rudy” and his
wife Cheryl founded The Rudy Foundation in 1997.
All players from Division I FBS football programs are
eligible to be nominated and a selection committee
chooses 3 finalists who are invited to the Rudy Awards
Banquet, where the winner is announced. Each finalist is
presented with a beautiful award and a $2,500 academic
scholarship. The overall winner is chosen and presented
with The Rudy Award and a $5,000 scholarship.
The 2008 Rudy Award finalists were Dan Cafaro of the
University of Pittsburgh who overcame Hodgkins Lymphoma
and was the recipient of the Panther’s Demale Stanley
Award, which goes to the team’s most inspirational
player. Nic Harris of the University of Oklahoma was
also a 2008 finalist. Nic is an orphan turned team
captain at OU as well as a two time Big 12 honoree and
the President of Bridge Builders, an African-American
student community organization. The winner of the 2008
Rudy Award however went to Drew Combs of Texas Christian
University. A congenital amputee, the senior kickoff
specialist was born with an arm that ends at his elbow.
He had a career high 8 touchbacks in 2008 and has three
career tackles. Combs works with athletes with
disabilities and serves as an esteemed role model and
inspiration on and off the field.

Foundation for continued success in helping people of
all ages follow their dreams!
